Software Engineer / Business Analyst - Cambridge / WFH

Reporting to:

CTO

Job Overview:

At Fignum we are embarking on an exciting journey to offer market leading, cloud-based software built with leading-edge thinking and technology. We have deep and long-standing roots in financial services formed out of the Bluestone Financial group. Now we are accelerating our drive to provide our loan origination, optimisation and collections technology to the world! To do that we want to hire the best talent to join Fignum’s growing team, developing new ways to deliver cutting-edge technology solutions using our vast collective industry experience.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a full stack or backend software engineer who is able to design and develop solutions on the microsoft stack as well as intuitively understand the business needs. The ability to quickly understand our clients' businesses and our users' needs is very important, as is being able to pick up new technologies and concepts. You will be a born problem solver and troubleshooter able to dive into the unknown and identify issues steadily ruling out possible problems until you find the root cause where others have given up. You will be able to work on complex systems and problems and provide easy to understand summaries, highly proficient at writing reports and specifications that can be understood by senior business management and end users alike. You will be able to work well on your own facing clients and be comfortable in that environment as well as being happy to work within a technical team of engineers. You will get the opportunity to work on both greenfield and existing applications running on our cloud infrastructure. You will be working in one of our small development teams supported by infrastructure engineers and a DBA. Experience with Windows .Net, C#, SQL server is essential, and IIS, React, AWS infrastructure, Git, Azure Devops, and retail finance are a plus. You may not have come into software via a traditional route, or you may have a special passion for solving business problems. You won’t be a cookie cutter application developer or a pure technologist. You will be determined but tempered with pragmatism, and able to cope with dynamic situations. You will likely have worked in more than one business domain and are adept at quickly understanding the key elements and also likely to have worked directly on business critical production systems. We are a friendly, growing, FinTech business with big ambitions who can offer a lot of opportunities to the right candidate. Showing initiative and determination as well as being able to contribute to both a team’s productivity and it’s ethos will stand you in good stead. Working from home up to 3 days a week to start with, you will also get the opportunity to visit client sites as well as spend time in our Cambridge headquarters.
